Letter From the Principal:
Dear St. William Families,
I would like to thank our whole community and especially our teaching staff for the hours of work they put into the final Accreditation process. A team of AOD principals and teachers were here on Wednesday to look over our compliance report, narrative, and evidence which aligns to the National Catholic Standards for all Catholic Schools. This is our evaluation and evidence of a healthy school. It can be described as our school “report card”. I am proud of the progress we have made in making St. William Authentically Catholic, Academically Excellent, Accessible to all, and Sustainable for the future.
I would like to update you on Angela Roelofs condition and thank you for your prayers. Miss Angela is home and is recovering. Due to the time that she will need to recover she will not be returning to the classroom this school year. Mrs. Dulzo will finish out the year with our JK class.
This Wednesday May 19th at our school mass we will have a special blessing over Bibles for our First Communion students and Rosaries for our Confirmation students. We are so happy to be able to provide this special opportunity since last year we could not due to COVID.
We are publishing our Tentative School Calendar for the 2021- 2022 school year. It is attached below. This does not include all of our community activities sponsored by PSA, Dads Club, or Athletics. This calendar adheres to the days and hours required by the AOD. Our school day (K-8) starts at 7:45 daily and ends at 3pm. Preschool and Junior Kindergarten starts at 8:00 AM and ends at 2:45 Pm for full day students. Preschool students who attend ½ day will be dismissed at 11:30 AM. The time schedule above meets the AOD requirements for instructional hours. Our scheduled vacation breaks will follow the liturgical calendar.
Please keep our 8th grade students who will be making their Confirmation on Friday May 21st at 7pm in prayer.
In His Love and Joy,
News from the PSA:
Next year’s PSA Fundraiser will be a Fun Run for all students held on Friday, October 1st. We are in need of volunteers to help with planning as well as running the event the day of. If you are interested in helping, please contact Dina Karim (248) 227-6582. We will be holding planning meetings this summer.
We will be adding a Middle School Events Coordinator position to the PSA Board for the 2021 – 2022 school year. The goal is to host 2 – 3 events geared specifically to our middle school students. As part of the Family of Parishes initiative, St. William will begin more association with St. James, Holy Family, and St. Joseph South Lyon. We will be inviting middle school students from those parishes to also participate in these events. The ideal candidate would have a student in middle school at St. William for the 2021 – 2022 school year. If you are interested in this position, please contact Ann Kenyon (313) 405-2461.
Let’s Talk School Lunches and Popcorn
We are planning to bring back school lunches and Popcorn Thursdays next year. We are getting close to filling our school lunch and popcorn teams for next year! We still need a popcorn supply shopper, a few more poppers and some more volunteers to help serve school lunches and be substitutes (M/W/F). No cooking experience is necessary and training will be provided for all positions. This WILL count toward your volunteer hours for the year.
Use the link below to signup and for more details. I’m hoping to have two teams of poppers, so each team will pop bi-weekly.
Please contact Stacey Virga at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions regarding these programs.
